Origin
Dick Bradsell · Fred's Club, London · 1984
Bradsell's signature drink — a London Dry Gin sour with crème de mûre drizzled over crushed ice — inspired by his childhood blackberrying on the Isle of Wight.
Dick Bradsell's 1980s London classic — a gin sour gone wild, bleeding blackberry liqueur through crushed ice.
Ingredients
- 2 oz Gin
- 1 oz fresh Lemon juice
- ½ oz Simple Syrup
- ½ oz Crème de Mûre
Instructions
- Shake gin, lemon, and simple syrup with ice for 8–10 seconds.
- Strain into a rocks glass packed with crushed ice.
- Drizzle the crème de mûre over the top so it bleeds down through the ice.
- Garnish with two blackberries and a lemon wedge.
Tips
- Crushed ice is non-negotiable — it gives the cassis-like drizzle something to cling to.
- A London dry gin keeps the drink crisp against the sweet liqueur.
