Brooklyn variation that swaps Amer Picon for Punt e Mes
A Brooklyn variation — rye, Punt e Mes, and maraschino, stirred and strained.
Ingredients
- 2 oz Rye Whiskey
- 0.5 oz Punt e Mes
- 0.5 oz Maraschino Liqueur
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice.
- Stir for 20–30 seconds until well chilled.
- Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
- Garnish with a brandied cherry, optional.
Tips
- Punt e Mes brings bitterness that sweet vermouth cannot — don't substitute.
- A spicy 100-proof rye holds its own against the maraschino.
Notes
Vincenzo Errico built the Red Hook at Milk & Honey in NYC in 2003, swapping Amer Picon for Punt e Mes in the Brooklyn template. It launched a small wave of New York neighborhood-named riffs.
