Built with: Gin · Campari · Sweet Vermouth

Origin

Caffè Casoni, Florence · 1919

Created when Count Camillo Negroni asked bartender Fosco Scarselli to fortify an Americano with gin in place of soda. Some historians, notably the Wondrich camp, note the lack of Italian printed recipes before the 1940s, but the Florence-1919 story is the canonical attribution.
